The Kern River Parkway Trail is Bakersfield's signature asset — 30 miles of paved path along the Kern River passing preserved riparian habitat, the Kern County Museum, Sam Lynn Ballpark, Spectrum Amphitheatre, Panorama Vista Preserve, and connecting directly to California State University Bakersfield. Class 1 and 2 e-bikes permitted throughout. The Mill Creek Linear Park Trail (1.9km) connects downtown Bakersfield through a paved urban green corridor with small waterfalls and a covered bridge.

CSUB's campus is directly connected to the Kern River Parkway — students and faculty have one of California's best campus-to-trail connections. The city's oil, agriculture, and logistics workforce includes many cost-conscious commuters for whom e-bikes represent real economic value as a car alternative.
