Cody sits at the mouth of the Shoshone River Canyon at ~5,016 ft — a natural gateway between the Bighorn Basin's high desert and the Absaroka Mountains' alpine terrain. 235 trails in the Cody region cover mountain biking, e-biking, gravel, fat biking, OHV, and more (Trailforks).

The Shoshone Riverway Trail weaves 9+ miles of paved and gravel path through Cody's park system along the river — flat, scenic, connecting parks and picnic areas. The most popular local urban e-bike route. All e-bike classes on paved city trails.

The Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway (US-14/16/20) runs 52 miles west through the Shoshone River Canyon to Yellowstone's east entrance — passing the Buffalo Bill Dam, climbing 4,800 ft into Yellowstone, and descending 6,300 ft on the return. One of Wyoming's most spectacular paved e-bike road rides. Class 3 and all classes on public road. Confirmed by local media as a real local rider aspiration.

For OHV and electric dirt bikes: McCullough Peaks (~150 miles of BLM/state trails east of Cody) and Red Lake Motorised Recreation Area (3,000 acres with sand washes, hill climbs, and play areas) both require a Wyoming ORV permit. Sur-Ron and Tuttio electric dirt bikes are the fastest-growing OHV segment here.
