Mid-drive is categorically right for serious off-road climbing. Goes up terrain hub-motor bikes refused to attempt.

Apple Find My integration is genuinely clever. 220mm brake rotors provide motorcycle-level stopping.

Best mid-drive dirt bike under $1500 by a significant margin.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Freego Nova 3 mid-drive transmission work?
The Nova 3 uses a two-stage transmission: a 23:51 belt/pulley reduction followed by a 13:56 sprocket reduction, giving a total reduction ratio of 1:9.6. This means the motor output is multiplied 9.6 times before reaching the rear wheel. The result is 200Nm of torque at the wheel — approximately 20% more efficiently delivered than an equivalent hub motor. The mid-drive configuration also means the motor works through the bike's own gearing for further torque multiplication on steep terrain.
Does the Freego Nova 3 have an Apple Find My tracker?
Yes. The Nova 3 includes an Apple Find My compatible tracker integrated into the frame. This means the bike appears in your Apple Find My network alongside your phone, AirPods, and other Apple devices. If the bike is stolen, it appears on your map as long as any Apple device passes within Bluetooth range — which in urban areas is nearly continuous coverage.
What are the two riding modes on the Freego Nova 3?
City mode limits the Nova 3 to 28 mph for use on private roads and controlled environments. Off-Road mode allows full 40 mph performance on private land and trails. Range in City mode is up to 50 miles. In Off-Road mode, the higher speed and power draw reduces range to approximately 20 miles. Both modes use the full 60V 25Ah (1500Wh) battery.
