Removable battery that charges separately is the most practical feature. Front AND rear disc brakes at this price is impressive.

Key speed lock means I decide the ceiling. My 9-year-old started on 5 mph and now rides 10 mph confidently.

Better suspension than expected. Both disc brakes work well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the MotoTec Gazella have front and rear disc brakes when most kids' bikes only have rear?
Rear-only braking is common on budget kids' bikes because it is cheaper to implement. A rear brake alone cannot match the stopping power of combined front and rear braking — physics dictates that braking force shifts weight to the front wheel, where more traction is available. Front and rear disc brakes on the Gazella provide shorter stopping distances and better control at 16 mph, which matters when young riders encounter sudden obstacles.
How does the MotoTec Gazella battery charge separately from the bike?
The 2x12V 12Ah (24V total) battery pack removes from the frame and has its own charging socket. You plug the charger directly into the battery, separate from the bike. This means you can charge the battery at a desk, in a cupboard, or anywhere with a standard outlet — without needing to bring the bike indoors or find a plug near where the bike is stored.
What speed modes does the MotoTec Gazella have and how are they selected?
The Gazella has three speed modes: 5 mph, 10 mph, and 16 mph. Modes are selected with a physical key — the child cannot change the speed ceiling without parental involvement. The twist-grip throttle is variable within the selected mode, so the child still has control over acceleration within the ceiling you have set.
